A Stunning Coastal Kitchen Transformation in Milford on Sea

This project was a real pleasure to be part of from beginning to end. We were initially approached by Bailey Building Projects, a trusted partner we have worked alongside on many successful projects over the years. They were carrying out a complete renovation of a holiday home in the beautiful coastal village of Milford on Sea, transforming a property that had remained largely untouched since the 1970s.

From the first conversation, it was clear the clients had a strong sense of what they wanted their new kitchen to feel like. With the property sitting so close to the coast, they were keen to create a space that gently reflected its seaside setting without feeling too themed or overdone. The choice of Indigo Blue cabinetry became the perfect foundation for this look, bringing depth, warmth and a subtle nautical feel to the room.

To complement the cabinetry, knurled antique brass handles were chosen, adding a touch of detail and character against the rich blue finish. Elegant white quartz worktops completed the scheme beautifully, helping to keep the space feeling bright, fresh and timeless. The overall result is a kitchen that feels both refined and relaxed, perfectly suited to a coastal holiday home.

Designed for a family of four, the kitchen needed to be as practical as it was stylish. Storage and preparation space were key priorities, especially in a home designed to be enjoyed by family and guests. The final layout includes a full-height pull-out larder, side-by-side larder fridge and freezer, along with a carefully planned combination of pan drawers and cupboards to make the most of every available inch.

At the centre of the room is a large island, designed to work as both a generous preparation area and a sociable gathering space. With seating for three to four people, it creates a natural place for the family to come together throughout the day. A 600mm wine cooler has also been seamlessly integrated into the design, adding a practical touch that suits the relaxed, holiday-home feel of the space.

Whether it is being used for breakfast, a morning coffee, evening drinks or simply as somewhere to sit and chat while food is being prepared, the island has become the heart of the kitchen. It brings people into the space and helps create the welcoming, sociable environment that was such an important part of the original brief.

The finished kitchen balances timeless coastal style with the practical needs of modern family living. It feels calm, considered and full of character, with every detail chosen to support the way the space will be used. For a home in Milford on Sea, it feels perfectly placed — elegant, relaxed and ready to be enjoyed for many years to come..
